Experiences Salzburg!

With its picturesque old town, the fortress and the green city mountains, the city of Mozart enchants again and again. The FestungsBahn funicular and the MönchsbergAufzug lift take you in no time at all to the wonderful attractions on Salzburg's city mountains.

You can reach the prominent landmark of the city, the Hohensalzburg Fortress, quite comfortably with Austria's oldest funicular. In 54 seconds, the funicular takes you - surrounded by fascinating views - to the city's landmark.

With the MönchsbergAufzug lift in the middle of the city, you can float up to the Mönchsberg and to Salzburg's most beautiful viewing terrace in just 30 seconds. Popular attractions here are the Museum der Moderne Salzburg and the restaurant m32. A short walk over the ridge of the Mönchsberg offers wonderful views over the old town and leads to the Museum WasserSpiegel, where you can immerse yourself into the history of water supply of the city of Salzburg.

Experience Salzkammergut

Lake Wolfgangsee is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the heart of Europe. The WolfgangseeSchifffahrt fleet has been shuttling here between the idyllic towns of St. Wolfgang, St. Gilgen and Strobl since 1873. Just keep your nose to the wind and discover the area around the emerald green lake in a relaxed way. Numerous offers for young and old make the ride on the gentle waves a unique experience.

Since 1893, the SchafbergBahn has been traveling directly from St. Wolfgang to the 1,783-meter-high Schafberg, which, with its distinctive peak, is probably one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains in Austria. The steepest cog railway in Austria overcomes a difference in altitude of almost 1,190 meters in the 35-minute ride. Even during the ride, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Salzkammergut region, and once you reach the summit, the surrounding lakes glitter in competition. The view extends from the Bohemian Forest in the north to the Alps in the south. In addition to the fantastic views, there are also cozy places to pic-nic and hike at the summit. Perfect for an exciting social program or teambuilding in nature.

2023: many anniversaries and a new valley station for the SchafbergBahn

2023 is truly a year to celebrate: the SchafbergBahn has been climbing the Schafberg for 130 years and 150 years ago the first ship of the WolfgangseeSchifffahrt set sail.

In addition, for the anniversary year, the valley station of ScharfbergBahn has been completely rebuilt: the ErlebnisQuartier opened in April 2023 and offers, in addition to the station building with ticketing and check-in, a restaurant with a roofed lake terrace, a store and a museum which illustrates the 130-year history of the SchafbergBahn and the 150-year history of the WolfgangseeSchifffahrt.

The ErlebnisQuartier can be rented exclusively as an event location outside of the operation hours of the SchafbergBahn. We've summarized how your events in the Salzkammergut region could look like.
